Sunu P. Chandy lives in Washington, D.C. with her family, and is the daughter of immigrants to the U.S. from Kerala, India. Sunu’s collection of poems,

This Bridge We Call Home: Radical Visions for Transformation. Sunu has completed degrees in Peace and Global Studies/Women’s Studies, Law, and Fine Arts with a focus on Creative Writing/Poetry. Sunu has served on many boards of directors including with the South Asian Women's Creative Collective (SAWCC) in New York City, and is currently on the board of the Transgender Law Center. Sunu started out as a union-side labor and employment lawyer in NYC, and has now worked for over 20 years as a civil rights attorney, including as a litigator with EEOC for 15 years. Sunu is currently the legal director of the
National Women’s Law Center where she advocates for gender justice and civil rights protections including through leading their
litigation projects and providing guidance on their
Workplace Justice and
LGBQT Rights related policy work.
