I'm a rising Junior at Emory University, double majoring in English and Psychology! Ever since I was a child, I've been writing stories and I feel that I never quite outgrew that imaginative phase of my life. For me, poetry has been a way in which I can express emotions and feelings that I may have difficulty with showing. Growing up in an Asian household, I noticed that my relatives never showed much emotion--besides joy, anger, frustration, and a few core ones. However, as I grew up, I realized that there's more to life than the surface level emotion of sadness or anger. Yet, I wasn't ever sure how to express these feelings so I turned to the one thing I knew would always have my back. My own words. I soon found a way to formulate these words into poems--some that rhyme and some that are just free verse. At the moment, I'm unsure of what I want to do with my majors, but learning the intricacies of the psychological brain intertwining with my passion for writing is something I'm very passionate about! Some of the topics I gravitate towards in my writing include mental health, Asian American hate, and the LGBTQ+ community.
